Months of preparaion was inally over, no more early morning gym sessions, no more Friday runs and no more
trainings, as it was ime to present ourselves well on September 8th, the start of the NZ Aims netball tourna-
ment at Mt Maunganui Netball courts, Tauranga. I felt nervous all around, because I really wanted to do well
for myself and the school. All 11 members in our team were excited, as they were all ready for a hard week of
playing netball. Whaea Kamiria (our coach) and Mrs McGough (our manager) were also excited for the 5 day
tournament, as we were In pool I.
Our irst 2 days were pool play, to determine which grade we go into (A Grade, B Grade and C Grade). We won
all our games for pool play making A Grade and Top 32, which was awesome as that was our goal. On Wednes-
day we played Whakatane intermediate which we won to make Top 16, But lost to Glen-Eden for Top 8.
Thursday we played of for Top 9th-16th in New Zealand. We won our irst game against St Kenigern’s beaing
them 31-13. But unfortunately we just lost to Hut Intermediate by one goal. We were all guted that we had
lost but proud that we had made the top 14 in New Zealand.
On Friday we were ired but we knew we had to dig deep as we sill had two more games against Aquinas Col-
lege and North Cross Intermediate. We beat Aquinas College 35-25 which meant we played of against North
Cross for 13th/14th. We played awesome that game and we beat them 38-24. We all jumped for joy because
we had just come 13th in New Zealand which was an amazing feeling. Te Kahurangi Tamai-Moore
